THE CASE FILE

THE BIT THEY DIDN'T PUT ON THE BOX.

The basket costs extra. A lot extra.

While Porsche houses the assembly in a unique plastic basket, the internal Pierburg/Bosch pump motor itself is shared with the baseline VW Golf/Bora. Buying the Porsche assembly costs £350+, whereas buying just the raw shared pump insert is £45–£60.

SO WHAT'S THE CATCH?

A pump insert is not a complete fuel-pump assembly. Requires correct specifications and installation.

“The interesting bit isn't the badge. It's what happens when you search for the part behind it.”

THE INTERNET DETECTIVE'S CHECKLIST

Look for complete part numbers and revisions, make sure you're comparing the same quantity, and check the exact model/application. That's especially important with electrical, braking, steering, battery and other safety-related components.
